Protect3d Design Engineering

Protect3d is a startup that utilizes 3D scanning and modeling to design anatomically precise products for college athletic departments, professional sports teams, and orthopedic clinics nationwide.

As an engineering intern and design engineer, I utilized Rhino and Grasshopper for 3D modeling to optimize product ergonomics. This involved creating detailed digital models that allowed for precise adjustments based on the client specifications. This experience not only enhanced my proficiency in advanced modeling techniques but also provided valuable insight into client-centric product design and its comprehensive demands.

Similar to medical clinic, athletic departments will use the Protect3d app in order to send 3D scans to the design engineers. With these scans, customized products are designed for athletes to wear under wrappings giving them the capability of being protected while being able to perform at their best in injury recovery.

Orthopedics

Orthopedic clinics will send scans through the Protect3d app to deliver custom Ankle Foot Orthotics (AFOs) to patients. Since it is customized to the scan of each patient, an AFO has never been more comfortable giving the patient a lot of range of motion.
