We brainstormed, prototyped, and designed an assistive swimming device for a 3-year-old girl with Aicardi-Goutieres Syndrome (AGS), which is a condition that prevents full control of limb movement. This device would be used recreationally and in water therapy for muscle development.
The device is designed to hold up her torso while giving her free range in motion for her arms and legs.
This project demanded for a lot of communication within the team and adaptability to improve our design and change someone’s life.

DESIGN GOALS
01 RELIABLE
Flight critical system, so simplicity and reproducability is key.
02 ROBUST
In the load path for launch and recovery, needs to withstand the force of the N600 motor and the shock of parachute deployment.
03 ACCURATE
Competition results are dependent on the system performing as planned.
